Prior to moving to New York, Jackie was working in a neurology lab at the University of California, San Francisco, and conducted experiments on the genetic mechanisms of various brain malformations. When she’s not complaining about how much she misses California, Jackie can be found at improv shows, running along the East River, and getting her EMT certification in Brooklyn.
Melissa Ingala is a bat biologist at the American Museum of Natural History’s Richard Gilder Graduate School. Melissa currently studies the evolution and ecology of bats through the lens of their gut bacteria. Relying on large-scale DNA sequencing of bat guano, she uses gut bacteria to understand how bats have radiated into different feeding guilds and how they resist parasitism and disease.
