Juneteenth Jubilee: A Night of Black Joy and Activism

FRI // JUN 19 // 07:00PM

Juneteenth is the annual celebration of the Emancipation of enslaved Africans in the United States. June 19th, 1865 marks the day that enslaved African people in Galveston, Texas received word that that they had been legally freed – a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

On June 19th, 2020, we remember the dark legacy of American capitalism while also celebrating moments of joy and humanity while being Black in America. Join us in a night of ‘black joy and activism’ as we take time to celebrate freedom, and all the ways in which we continue to do the work.

Hosted by Chinisha S., the Jubilee bring comedians, Djs, and organizers on the front-lines right into your homes. The evening also marks the official launch of the #BlackDollarsMakeSense campaign - a 30-day, national campaign to patronize black-owned businesses, whenever and wherever possible.

Official after-party by DJ Spinna on Twitch.tv!

Your favorite nerdy basement club now hosts remote livestreams 6 nights a week! We’ve got special online editions of your favorite long-running shows, as well as brand new shows to expand your horizons.

It’s a strange time and it may only get stranger.

We’re a live, in-person entertainment company at our heart - streaming is new to us, and new to many of our performers. There will probably be glitches, unforeseen issues and awkward pauses!

But we’re smart, and we’re strong, and we’re gonna get through this together. A little global pandemic can’t stop Caveat shows from making you a little bit smarter & a little bit drunker!

All ticket proceeds & PayPal contributions are split between the performers you see on the show, and Caveat. It may be a while before live, in-person entertainment will be back in full force in NYC - Caveat is committed to providing livestreams sustainably for our business & our performers until then!

If you’d like to support us with more than a ticket:

Contribute to our recovery fund here: https://paypal.me/caveatnyc

If you are not currently able to afford the $5 ticket, we are offering a limited number of free tickets per show to those experiencing financial hardship.

We’re happy to help keep you connected & entertained through this rough time!
